Nicole Eggert starred as Summer Quinn during seasons 3 and 4, arriving in Malibu from Pittsburgh with her mother to escape an abusive relationship. Summer was a young and athletic guard who dealt with serious topics such as body image issues and eating disorders during her time on the beach.

Eggert was already an established teen icon from Charles in Charge before joining the series. Her character is best remembered for her close bond with Matt Brody and her transition from a vulnerable newcomer to a confident member of the elite lifeguard squad.
