Alexandra Paul played Stephanie Holden, a lieutenant and one of the most senior lifeguards on the team, from seasons 3 to 7. Stephanie was portrayed as a serious, professional, and highly capable leader who often served as the primary foil and love interest to Mitch Buchannon.

Unlike many of her co-stars who were characterized by their glamour, Paul’s character was frequently praised for her “streamlined” athletic build and no-nonsense approach to the job. Stephanie’s time on the show ended tragically when she was killed off in season 7 during a lightning storm at sea.
